Welcome!

Like most in 2016, I became obsessed with Jane Birkin’s style and finding a “good straw bag.” Unashamed of clearing out a thrift store of all its straw bags, I acquired a size, shade, and shape for every outfit and season. I even made an Uber pull over mid-trip on a San Francisco hill so I could buy a straw bag hanging from a corner store awning. The perfect carryall, it added a touch of bohemia to my eclectic style and fit every lip gloss, emergency snack, paper ephemera and good luck charm that I insisted on carrying with me all over the city.

Years later, though my style is constantly evolving, my steadfast use of the straw bag remains the same. It’s become a metaphor for me. I’ll come across a refreshing street style photo, an obscure vintage fashion label, or an intricate fabric, and spend hours searching my favorite resale sites for something, anything similar—just in the same way I searched high and low for my straw bags.

I can’t buy all of my finds, and even if I could, there’s only so much that my small studio apartment and wallet can take. It’s a fact that is necessary for me to accept, so I reconcile that uncharacteristic sensibility by sharing them with you.
